Contemporary House by AGUSHI and WORKROOM Design

See how to break the monotony of boring street, full of old fashioned traditional houses. Build awesome contemporary house that will attract attention of every person that passes by.

Oban House is exactly that. A contemporary house built between two "ordinary" traditional homes. It is located in South Yarra, a suburb of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia, about 4 kilometers south-east from Melbourne's Central Business District. Australia's Victoria is actually full of beautiful homes, you can check out this amazing dream home or this dark contemporary home as well.

Oban House is built by AGUSHI office and designed by WORKROOM Design, a company specializing in contemporary architecture and interiors, furniture, and exhibition design. What is so interesting about this contemporary house? It is this design that truly breaks monotony and boringness of "usual" architecture in this particular street. Nested between two traditional houses, it is like architectural oasis.

Let's see how designers described this lovely contemporary house: "The client’s brief was to provide a low maintenance contemporary home that utilizes a natural and organic material pallet whilst having a slightly industrial, yet warm feel. The house accommodates 2 living zones, study, kitchen with butler’s pantry, 4 bedrooms with 3 bathrooms and a separate upstairs living zone. The two levels of the house are accessed by a lift and the house offers a rarity for South Yarra being a generous 2 car off street garage. Outside is an 8 metre (26 foot) pool and north east facing garden, tiled alfresco area for outdoor entertainment and discreet plant and equipment area. The house is orientated around a central courtyard providing northern light into the two living areas and a smaller north courtyard fills the study with a bright landscaped outlook." - WORKROOM Design
